(AMHPS) is a nonprofit, educational, scientific and charitable 501 (c)(3) organization that provides support for professional education, research and community service that promotes optimum health among minorities and the under-served. It does this by engaging the collaborative resources, scholarship and technology for minority health professions schools.
AMHPS member schools collectively known as the Association of Minority Health Professions Schools (AMHPS) are drawn from historically black colleges and universities which include four schools of medicine, two schools of dentistry, five schools of pharmacy and one school of veterinary medicine.
Together, these institutions are regarded as the nation’s primary educators of minority health professionals and leading authorities on minority health. Through AMHPS support from public and private sources, member schools conduct a broad range of projects in biomedical research, health education and community outreach.
The AMHPS also serves as a clearinghouse for the management and administration of research proposals from AMHPS members to federal agencies and independent/private sector funding sources.
