RESEARCH ADVISORY COUNCIL - The Scientific Advisors

A hallmark of scientific investigation and inquiry is peer review of research proposals, processes and results. It is with this in mind that our Research Advisory Council (RAC) is charged with recommending and facilitating research activities, policies and procedures that contribute to the advancement of knowledge, treatment and prevention of diseases in our community. Their research focuses on disabilities and adverse health outcomes that disproportionately or differentially affect African Americans and other minority populations.

Our Research Advisory Council is comprised of research directors at our member institutions who support the Foundation in the following ways:

• Coordination of collaborative research-related initiatives.
• Development of review criteria for proposals.
• Review of policies and procedures for proposal submissions.
• Review of all proposals being submitted for funding for scientific merit.
• Peer Review and recommendation of external reviewers for institutional proposals.
• Review of manuscripts submitted by member institutions' investigators prior to peer-review publication
  submission.
• Serve as liaison between and representation of the individual member institutions and the Foundation.
